Michael Campbell Reid, grew up in Northern Ireland during the ‘1960s. The son of an Airline Pilot he travelled extensively in his youth, seeing a fair amount of the world.
Travel was something that has been prolific throughout his life, during his career in government service and still now, living part time in Spain….. Where he hopes to settle one day.
He began painting and drawing in early childhood, though received an F for art as he refused to conform to expected techniques.
He paints mostly in watercolour and has a slightly off beat style, chopping and changing methods to suit his mood.
A lot of his life has been involved with the sea, both on fishing boats and later ships. Also a keen fisherman many of his works feature water.
He was heavily influenced by the impressionists. this reflects in many of his works, though his engineering qualifications give him an added eye for detail at times.
